| On 23 August 2004, the authority responsible, the BSH, granted permission for a pilot phase with an initial 80 turbines in the 3-5MW class. We plan to erect a total of 980 wind energy turbines in several stages on a total area of 1,100kmē, as large as the cities of Hamburg, Bremen and Oldenburg combined. The turbines will be placed at a generous distance of 1km away from each other, so they do not affect each other. That increases their service life. The site for Sandbank 24 is in the North Sea, about 54sm to the west of Sylt island and, due to the curvature of the Earth, it cannot be seen from the shore. www.sandbank24.de |
